Spring energized seals
A spring-energized seal consists of three main elements: a jacket, a spring and high performance plastic sealing materials. It uses a spring to provide a consistent load throughout the circumference of the seal. This way a leak-tight seal is created between the jacket, made out of high performance plastics, and the hardware. The choice of high performance plastics provides outstanding physical and mechanical characteristics.
Spring-energized seals are typically encountered in environments that place too much strain on conventional elastomeric seals: extreme temperatures and pressures, high levels of friction and wear or aggressive media are among the most common. Because the high performance plastics for spring-energized seals are machined, the seal configuration can be altered to meet to your specific needs.
